Techwood Decks has been building decks for homeowners in Belmont, San Carlos and across the Peninsula for years. Our showroom is in San Carlos and our owner lives in Belmont, so the families we build for are our neighbors. This year we became a business partner of two local education foundations: SchoolForce and the Carlmont Academic Foundation. Here is who they are, what they do and why we support them.

SchoolForce: supporting every public school in Belmont and Redwood Shores

SchoolForce is the Belmont-Redwood Shores Public School Foundation, a volunteer-run nonprofit that raises money for the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District. That means every public school in the district: Central, Cipriani, Fox, Nesbit, Sandpiper and Redwood Shores elementary schools, and Ralston Middle School.
California public schools receive less state funding per student than most of the country, so SchoolForce fills the gap. It pays for specialized teachers in science, reading and library, school counselors, music and art instructors, STEM coaches, PE specialists and learning intervention specialists. It also funds field trips, classroom materials and innovation grants for new educational projects. About 80 percent of donations go directly to teachers and staff. For the 2025-26 school year SchoolForce raised 3 million dollars, more than 6 percent of the district budget.
Carlmont Academic Foundation: funding the future at Carlmont High School

The Carlmont Academic Foundation (CAF) is a nonprofit that supports Carlmont High School in Belmont, the high school for students from Belmont, San Carlos and nearby neighborhoods. Its motto is “Funding the future together.”
CAF money goes to smaller class sizes and more course options, mental health and counseling services, college and career guidance staff, arts programs and new educational initiatives that the public budget does not cover. The foundation is funded by parents, community members and local businesses through its Business Partner program, and Techwood Decks is proud to be one of those partners.
Why we do it
The communities we serve are more than just where we build. They are where we live, raise our families, and grow our business.
We are proud to work with homeowners throughout Belmont, San Carlos, and the Peninsula, and we believe in giving back to the communities that support us. With our own kids attending local schools, this commitment is personal.
Supporting SchoolForce and the Carlmont Academic Foundation is our way of investing in local students, teachers, and programs and helping strengthen the schools that make our community such a great place to call home.
How you can help
Both foundations accept donations from families and businesses year round. If you live in the area or run a local business, visit schoolforce.org and carlmontacademicfoundation.org to learn how to get involved.
